2nd. Transnational Meeting

19-21 june 2025

Cres. Croatia

Our second transnational project meeting took place in the serene and inspiring surroundings of Moise Palace, nestled in the heart of Cres Island, Croatia. Operated by the University of Rijeka, the palace provided a truly unique and historic setting for a week that combined intensive work, rich collaboration, and unforgettable cultural experiences.

Co-creation work

Project coordinators from Ireland, Spain, France, Portugal, and Croatia came together for five focused days of co-creation, with the shared mission of advancing our project’s educational tools and strategies. From 9am to 5pm each day, our team of ten worked with drive and determination, dedicating countless hours to developing a comprehensive set of classroom-ready materials to support teachers, students, and parents in understanding and working with Artificial Intelligence.

A productive week for the project

This was a work-heavy, deeply productive week, spent in group discussions, collaborative development, and peer learning. Every session was geared toward crafting the most impactful and accessible content for our AI Toolkit, MOOCs, and upcoming LTTAs in Portugal and France.

Setting the AI Learning Scenarios

Throughout the week, we developed a diverse range of learning scenarios, each designed to spark curiosity and support meaningful engagement with AI in schools:

  • How AI Learns

  • Virtual Art & Creativity

  • Debating with AI

  • AI-Powered Storytelling

  • Climate Action & Renewable Energy

  • Understanding Machine Learning

Each of the AI learning scenarios was thoughtfully differentiated across three age groups, 4–7, 8–12, and 13–16 years old, to ensure age-appropriate engagement and maximum educational impact. For every topic, from machine learning to climate action, we designed tailored versions suited to the developmental needs of each group. These included a wide range of creative and interactive activities all centred on introducing and exploring AI in a meaningful, accessible way. This detailed structuring reflects our deep commitment to producing high-quality, inclusive educational resources that support all learners and give schools the tools they need to successfully bring AI into the classroom.

Cultural experiences

Friendship & spirit of community

But the experience extended far beyond the workroom. Our Croatian hosts generously opened their homeland to us, ensuring the experience was as rich culturally as it was professionally. We visited the historic hilltop village of Lubenice, whose ancient stone paths and panoramic sea views gave us a glimpse into the island’s deep-rooted history. We also spent a memorable evening in the seaside town of Valun, where we swam in crystal-clear waters and shared a delicious meal in the glow of the setting sun.

As the week drew to a close, it was clear that this meeting had achieved far more than just project milestones. It forged real friendships and lasting professional relationships, deepened our shared vision, and reminded us of the power of collaboration across cultures, disciplines, and borders fostering a real sense of our European bond.

Final thoughts and greatful

A heartfelt thank you to our Croatian colleagues is more than deserved: for collecting us from various airports, guiding us onto ferries, introducing us to local delicacies, and extending unmatched hospitality—from breakfast to dinner each day. Their generosity and warmth ensured that we not only worked hard but felt genuinely welcomed and cared for.

The Moise Palace gathering will be remembered not just for the hours of dedicated work, but for the spirit of community, creativity, and connection that defined every moment.
