History of AI

The students delivered a very interactive presentation on the history of Artificial Intelligence. Throughout the session, they actively engaged the target audience by asking questions, encouraging participation and promoting discussion. The presentation not only explained key moments in the development of Artificial Intelligence, but also captured the audience’s interest, making the learning experience dynamic, accessible and meaningful, and helped them understand the evolution of Artificial Intelligence in a dynamic and accessible way.

Teachers workshops

On 7th of April, the workshop “AI Applications for Teachers” took place in the Future Classroom of Escola Secundária Jerónimo Emiliano de Andrade, as part of the Erasmus+ project SMaiLE – Scenarios and MOOC’s for Artificial Intelligence Literacy in Education.

The session was publicized in the school, in the school’s social media and in the other schools of the island, inviting  20 teachers to attend. 

The session was led by teachers Dora Coelho, Lídia Bettencourt, and Marina Silva, and gathered several teachers from the school, one teacher from Spain and another teacher from another school nearby who participated actively throughout the event.

During the workshop, participants explored a variety of artificial intelligence (AI) tools designed for educational purposes. The session focused on the potential of AI to support lesson planning, teacher productivity, student assessment, and personalized learning, while also encouraging reflection on the ethical and pedagogical challenges involved in its use.

The event also promoted collaboration and the sharing of experiences among teachers, fostering discussions on how to integrate AI meaningfully and responsibly into teaching practices.

This workshop marked an important step in introducing AI to our school context, reinforcing our commitment to innovation and digital literacy in education.

The Português Ministery of Education acknowledge the work that is being done at school liking the post about the even on the school’s Facebook Page.

Students workshops

Workshop 1. Environment and AI

The student Núria shared with her class key topics about Artificial Intelligence that she learned during LTTA2, namely the structure of data centres and the energy consumption associated with the use of AI. She raised the audience’s awareness of the environmental issues related to the increasing use of Artificial Intelligence.

Workshop 2. Environment and AI

Students attended: 20

Age of the students: 13-15 years old

Teachers: 2

Thes students Núria, Leonor and Mariana shared key topics about Artificial Intelligence that they learned during LTTA2, namely the structure of data centres and the energy consumption associated with the use of AI. They raised the audience’s awareness of the environmental issues related to the increasing use of Artificial Intelligence.

Teachers workshops

On October 17th, in the context of the Erasmus Days, a meeting for 17 teachers was organised at the school.

 

During this event, the project was presented, along with the learning outcomes already achieved in LTTA1 and LTTA2. Artificial Intelligence tools aimed at increasing teachers’ productivity were also presented, and a discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of AI in education took place.
